I found this cow laying out in a pasture when I was visiting my sister in Medford, OR. I saw her during the daylight, but she had that "Good Night Moon" look about her so I decided to place her in a moonlit scene when I created the painting. That book was a favorite of my two sons' when they were little. This painting takes me back to those harried, young childhood years that always ended in a bath followed by a bedtime story. Then a delicious peace would descend on the household and all was right with the world.

I delight in rural farm life. To me it’s the best possible way to live. But not everyone can or wants to live on a farm or in the country. That’s where my art comes in. I paint my vision of what rural farm life embodies: animals, birds, crops, fresh air, fragrant grass and of course, red barns. All of these things ground me and make me whole.
