Artist's Description

We first got chickens when our boys were ages nine and ten. We purchased eight chicks, which means for a family of four we each got to pick two. This beautiful Barred Rock hen was my son Christopher's girl. In the real world, barred rocks are black and white striped. However in my world, I don't use black in my choice of paint colors (even the dark out line you see is burnt umber). My dark colors are mixes of blues, greens and a deep red. So consequently, I produce images of purple cows or blue chickens.

About Stacey Neumiller

Stacey Neumiller

I delight in rural farm life. To me it’s the best possible way to live. But not everyone can or wants to live on a farm or in the country. That’s where my art comes in. I paint my vision of what rural farm life embodies: animals, birds, crops, fresh air, fragrant grass and of course, red barns. All of these things ground me and make me whole. With my art, it’s my goal to share my connection to this pure, simple lifestyle so you can enjoy it in your own home. To start your collection, browse through the images below and click on the one that you'd like to see in your kitchen, living room or bedroom. From there you'll be able to customize art purchase. Enjoy!
